Chatham University students and faculty received a safety alert via email Tuesday morning, Oct. 22, that informed them of a stabbing that occurred between midnight and 1 a.m. the same day.
According to the City of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Police were called to the scene near the Mellon Park Playground, roughly a block from Chatham along Fifth Avenue. They found three men injured in a parked car, two stabbed in the chest and one in the wrist. The first two men were taken to the hospital in critical condition and later recovered to stable condition, while the other man was not severely injured.
WPXI reported police towed the car and took other items from the scene to be processed as evidence. No arrests have been announced related to the incident.
“The information we received on this incident was limited,” Chatham Chief of Police Donna Grossi said in an email. “There is no continued or ongoing threat to campus safety from this incident.”
