The American Federation of Teachers, Pennsylvania (AFT PA) withdrew its petition to represent a bargaining unit of Chatham University faculty, voluntarily concluding the pending representation case.
At the request of Chatham Faculty United and AFT PA, the representation case was dismissed and the hearings canceled by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) regional director.
Chatham administration received a notification over the weekend that AFT PA submitted a request for dismissal of the NLRB case, according to an email to faculty, staff and students sent by Chatham University president’s office early Tuesday, Nov. 26.
The NLRB regional director approved the dismissal of the case late Monday, according to the email.
The dismissal marks the end of the pending NLRB representation case that began in2023 and included 10 months of NLRB hearings, the filing of an unfair labor practice charge and open letters from both CFU and the administration.
