Chatham Student Government (CSG) held its regular meetings on Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 where they discussed Chatham’s AI policy and hosted Dr. Lisa Lambert for a discussion on her new role as Chatham University president. Below are the updates from the past month’s meetings.
Resolutions and Proclamations
A resolution was passed Oct. 4 that requires Chatham athletic teams to post schedules for when the team will occupy community exercise spaces in the Athletic and Fitness Center (AFC) for the convenience of other students.
Throughout last month’s meetings, generative AI use by students and staff was discussed and referred to the Student Safety and Wellness Committee (SSW).
The limited kosher options and quality of food in Anderson Dining Hall and Café Rachel were also mentioned and referred to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEI) and Student Safety and Wellness Committee (SSW).
Guest Speakers
CSG hosted President Lisa Lambert at the Oct. 23 meeting, welcoming her into her new position. CSG members posed questions to Lambert about her goals for her presidency as well as student concerns.
Lambert discussed enrollment management, hiring practices and changes to financial aid with members of CSG. The concern about Chatham’s lack of policy regarding generative AI usage was also brought up by members of CSG, which Lambert agreed was an important topic for discussion although difficult to prioritize amid other concerns.
If students are interested in getting involved with CSG, they can attend an in-person meeting in the Conover Room in the Mellon Board Room on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can also visit the CSG website to learn more about the organization.
