To celebrate the beginning of spring, the Chatham University spring formal will take place at the Eden Hall campus from 8 p.m. to midnight on April 8.

Organized by Chatham Activities Board (CAB), the event is based upon the theme of Napa Valley. There’s a flash ticket sale until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, to purchase tickets for $5. After the flash sale, tickets will be available for $15 though the end of the day of Friday, April 1.

The party will transport students to the vineyards of California – without leaving Pittsburgh. Featured foods will include mini cheesecakes, egg rolls, bruschetta, gourmet vegetable platters and charcuterie cones. For students who are 21 and older, a full bar will be available and white wine spritzers as the featured drink. There will be non-alcoholic beverages for those younger than 21.

Beyond the delectable treats, students can dance in the Eden Hall barn and take photos with friends in the photo booth. Transportation will be provided through Chatham shuttle buses to take students from the Shadyside campus to Eden Hall.

Past spring formals have had a similar entertaining, elegant atmosphere. For example, in 2017, students attended a Hollywood-themed formal with a DJ and stylish food displays, like charcuterie towers.

Due to COVID-19, this Chatham tradition has been canceled in recent years. Due to the decreasing COVID-19 case numbers, this will be the first spring formal since 2019.
