Chatham University Post Office retrieves missing packages, looks to address fixes

Chatham University announced a change in the student mailing address on the Shadyside campus on Jan. 10. 

Following this change, some mail has successfully arrived on campus, but several packages have been sent to the wrong location, about 20 minutes north of the Chatham mailroom. The property receiving the Chatham mail shares the same address as the new one suggested by the mailroom, with the only difference being their zip codes.

“Amazon is changing the zip code on packages in their shipping stream,” Copy and Mail Center Manager Ed White said in an email. “I have contacted Amazon to get this corrected as quickly as possible.” 

White reported that the Post Office plans to drive to the other location to retrieve the missing packages today and return them to students as soon as possible. All students impacted should still notify Amazon to get these mistakes on file and speed up the progress toward addressing the problem.

Students are still suggested to use the mailing address provided by the University which is listed below:

Carson Gates ’25 is a Communications major with a concentration in journalism. Carson is from the Buffalo, New York area, and chose Chatham University for its quiet and homey feel on campus, while also being smack dab in a major city. Carson is the editor-in-chief for the Communqiué, and when he writes, he writes primarily for the sports section but has been known to dabble in other areas as well.
