Chatham Student Government (CSG) held its regular meetings on Jan. 16, 23 and 30, in which they discussed appointments to previously vacant roles, a resolution related to meal plan changes and safety concerns. Below are updates from the first meetings of the spring semester.
Resolutions
Concerns were raised during the Jan. 16 meeting regarding the unexpected changes to meal plans that occurred at the beginning of the semester. A resolution was then passed on Jan. 23 in which CSG officially recognized those changes and how they impact students, as well as the lack of transparent communication. The resolution, which CSG sent directly to Parkhurst, the Office of Student Affairs and the President’s office, urges Parkhurst to improve its communication and cooperate with CSG, the Food Committee and the student body when making future changes. The resolution received unanimous approval from the Senate.
Other Updates
The class of ‘25 presented a budget request for their class project and gift, which was approved by the Senate and is in the process of being implemented by the class representatives.
Several concerns were referred to the Safety Committee, chaired by Class of ‘26 Vice President Madison Butina. These include winter weather related issues, parking tickets and burnt-out light posts on Woodland Road.
Resignations and Appointments
Ava Arundel ‘28 was appointed as Academic Advocacy Committee chair at the Jan. 16 meeting, a role that was left vacant when LJ Varley ‘27 assumed the vice president of communications position. Arundel was also appointed as class of ‘28 secretary, replacing Grace Coley after their resignation. Mia Pirichy was appointed to the class of ‘28 representative position during the Jan. 30 meeting, filling the vacancy left when Arundel became secretary.
2026 Class Representative Nina Schroeder resigned during the Jan. 30 meeting. The role has yet to be filled.
If students are interested in getting involved with CSG, they can attend an in-person meeting in the Conover Room in the Mellon Board Room on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can also visit the CSG website to learn more about the organization.
