“This is what democracy looks like,” thousands of protestors chanted as they marched through Grant Street in Pittsburgh to protest the Trump administration.
Hands Off, a mobilization effort of various activist organizations around the country, organized a nationwide day of protest April 5. This included attendance of around 6,000 protesters in Pittsburgh, according to an estimate by “Hands Off.”
Protestors gathered outside the city-county building in Downtown Pittsburgh for speeches at 12:30 p.m.
Community members and representatives from various activist organizations spoke about the threats to education, national parks, Medicare and Medicaid, social security, constitutional rights and more.
At 2:30 p.m., the protestors marched down Grant Street to the William S. Moorhead federal building and finally to Mellon Square.
