Chatham Student Government (CSG) held Town Hall on Nov. 6 and its regular meetings on Nov. 13 and 20 in which they discussed restarting the University archive program and reinstating Pennsy the Seal as mascot. CSG also hosted Mike Logesky, the general manager of Chatham Parkhurst for a discussion on concerns and improvements regarding Anderson Dining Hall and Café Rachel. Below are the updates from the past month’s meetings.
Resignations and Appointments
Executive Vice President Connor Domke announced Nov. 20 his resignation from his role effective Dec. 12. Anna Mack was nominated by Executive President Dom Randall and elected to the role as Domke’s replacement.
Resolutions and Proclamations
Executive President Dom Randall met with university president Dr. Lisa Lambert this month and discussed restarting the archive program in Jennie King Mellon Library (JKM) as well as reinstating Pennsy the Seal as a second mascot.
In response to students’ concerns of not being able to carry pepper spray on campus, CSG published their second resolution calling upon action for university weapons policy to be revised in order to reflect current demographics and safety needs.
Guest Speakers
Mike Logesky, the general manager of Chatham Parkhurst, attended the Nov. 13 meeting and answered questions from CSG regarding Anderson Dining Hall and Café Rachel.
Survey participation and immediate feedback were emphasized by Logesky as the best method for the Chatham student body to improve Parkhurst dining experiences. Logesky also emphasized a desire to continue to connect with CSG and the student body. While Parkhurst reiterates that decreasing the pricing of meals and increasing options would interfere with Anderson Dining Hall and Café Rachel being financially sustainable, Parkhurst encourages students to reach out with accommodations and recommendations.
If students are interested in getting involved with CSG, they can attend an in-person meeting in the Conover Room in the Mellon Board Room on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can also visit the CSG website to learn more about the organization.
Note: The “Resignations and Appointments” section was updated to acknowledge that Domke’s resignation was not effective immediately.
