Chatham University recently announced that the spring 2026 commencement ceremony will be held at the Highmark Stadium in Station Square on Pittsburgh’s South Shore.
Chatham moved the ceremony from its typical location at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown, to Highmark Stadium because of availability issues caused by the National Football League (NFL) Draft, which is being held in Pittsburgh in spring 2026. Chatham is also working around the Pittsburgh Marathon – which is scheduled for the same day as the ceremony on May 3 – by pushing the start time for commencement from earlier in the day to 4 p.m.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Matthew Redinger announced the changes in an email sent Nov. 25.
“Highmark Stadium offers us a beautiful outdoor setting,” Redinger said in the email. “We’re confident that the space will create a memorable experience for our graduates, their guests and families and the entire University community.”
Redinger encourages students and guests to bookmark the commencement page on the Chatham website, which is listed in the academics section under academic calendar. According to Redinger, further details will be released there once the Office of Academic Affairs finalizes plans.
