Halloween is right around the corner and it’s time to get into the spirit. Being a student at Chatham University means students receive free transportation, via Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT), with their Chatham ID and can take the bus right to Halloween activities.

Below are several spooky things to do, along with some travel tips for the Halloween season.

Kennywood Phantom Fall Fest

Every year Kennywood sets up the park for their annual Phantom Fall Fest. For students who like to go out and experience what Halloween is, Phantom Fall Fest is the place to go. All the amusement park rides are still open while facing scary surprises around every corner.

Phantom Fall Fest officially began on Sept. 22 and is open through Oct. 29. Tickets are only $34.99, so students who are on a budget are in for a deal. Chatham students without access to a car can take public transportation right to Kennywood Park for free with their Chatham ID.

Students can travel from the Shadyside campus by taking the PRT 64 bus outbound. Get off at Murray Ave and Hazelwood Ave then take the PRT 61C bus to Kennywood Boulevard and Glencairn.

Zoo Boo

For students who are not up for haunted houses and would rather do something else, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is open year-round on Saturdays to enjoy a night of gazing at animals, tasty treats, and different activities that are held that night.

Students can catch the PRT 71B bus located at Fifth Ave. Get off at Ellsworth-Oakland Morningside-Waterworks via Bakery Square, then catch the 75 bus to Baker Street and walk about one minute to the zoo. Public transportation runs until 1:35 a.m.
